Conference schedule

The preliminary conference program is now available. NACIS 2025 will feature more than 100 Main Conference talks, 29 Practical Cartography Day talks, two panels, two Birds of a Feather sessions, a workshop, and a field trip!

Meet our keynote speaker

Richard Schein is Professor of Geography at the University of Kentucky. He is a former Fulbright Bicentennial Chair of North American Studies (University of Helsinki) and has been named Distinguished Historical Geographer by the Association of American Geographers. He writes about the American Landscape as a mold and mirror of American life, and especially its place in racialized geographies.

Professor Schein lives in Woodford County Kentucky, home of fast horses and good bourbon, where he is a planning commissioner and president of the Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation.

SUBMIT A MAP

We want your tiny maps

If you’ve ever thought about submitting a map for the gallery, but lack the time or inspiration for a poster-sized entry, this is for you. We’re putting together a Tiny Map Display for the Map Gallery this year, comprised entirely of postcard-sized maps. Here are the specs:
  • Map must be 4″ x 6″ (standard postcard size)
  • Map must be able to be pinned to foamboard (no heavy media)
To keep the display tidy, please don’t make it larger or smaller than 4×6. If you want to make an Even Tinier map, please create it on a 4×6 ground.

That’s it! No theme, no other rules. If this sounds like fun, please submit your map via the gallery form by August 31st with the title Tiny Map Display: <name of map>, and we’ll know to include it.
