Our 41st Annual Meeting is happening next week! Whether you’re attending in person or remotely, we recommend you set up a few tools before Wednesday to ensure a smooth conference experience.

Meeting home page

Bookmark the Annual Meeting landing page, which contains links to everything you need during the conference, including presentation live streams, map galleries, and even a conference t-shirt.

To access all the content and events remotely, you will need to be registered for the conference. We will email the password for that page to all registered attendees soon. If you were registered by someone else, check with them to receive your password.

Conversation: Slack

For live discussions and to send questions to moderators and presenters, join the NACIS Slack. It’s the main way for in-person and remote attendees to interact during the conference.

Slack is a text chat tool available as a website and mobile app, where conversations happen in channels. Every NACIS session has a channel, and there are also channels for general conversation and getting help. Here’s a guide to getting started with Slack. If you ever have questions or issues, visit the #help-attendee channel in Slack and we’ll be there to help.

Schedule: Sched

You can find the conference schedule on Sched, a tool we have used for several years. No account is required, but we encourage you to register so you can bookmark sessions, display the schedule in your own time zone, and see who else is interested in events you’re attending.

Virtual social events: Remo

Our virtual social events for remote attendees will happen on Remo, a website that provides a virtual space for us to gather and converse in small groups. Links to the events can be found in Sched. Once you’re in the event, simply double-click on a table in the room map to join the people there for video chat. You can change tables whenever you like, or take a break in a one-person room. For some events there may be multiple floors added, so look for the “elevator” control on the left.

Don’t miss Remo’s whiteboard feature. Each table has an interactive whiteboard that allows for joint doodling and image sharing. For the virtual Map Gallery event, the whiteboards will display students’ maps. Text chat is also available event-wide and for each table.

This is the only part of the conference where you will need a video camera and microphone to participate, so think about your setup in advance. Feel free to create and test a Remo account before the meeting starts.

In-person attendees: There will be one opportunity to connect with virtual attendees on Remo. The NACIS Night In virtual event will start one hour before the in-person NACIS Night Out. If you won’t be participating in the Fun Run, that’s a great time to duck back into your hotel room and see your remote friends before heading to the event.

For our health: masks and vaccination

Our COVID-19 policy has changed since August, and we are now requiring vaccination and mask-wearing for in-person attendees. Please see our website for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our community safe.
