NACIS 2022: Our decision about livestreaming

Date posted: October 8, 2022

Hello NACIS members,

We are not offering a livestream of the conference this year, and NACIS 2022 will be an in-person only event. The keynote and presentations will be recorded and posted to the NACIS YouTube channel a week or two after the meeting as we’ve done in previous years. The NACIS Slack will remain active.

We made this difficult decision because, in this new pandemic environment, livestreaming the conference would make the conference considered “hybrid”. Many members informed us that they wouldn’t receive employer support to present and/or participate in person if the conference were hybrid, and we need to guarantee a minimum of hotel reservations and food/beverage consumption for the conference to be financially viable.

We hear you and apologize for not being immediately transparent and clear about not providing a livestream option this year.

In the year ahead, we will investigate how to continue providing livestreaming in a way that doesn’t limit in-person participation, as we understand it is important for accessibility and inclusivity. We appreciate everyone who has reached out to let us know how important it is to this community.
