The NACIS Book Club kicks off January 1 with Data Feminism by Catherine D’Ignazio and Lauren F. Klein. Join us in discussion at the #community-book-club channel in the NACIS Slack! 
 

Seeking nominations for board members


Nominations are open for the NACIS board, and you can nominate yourself or someone else. Serving on our board is a rewarding way to make connections within NACIS while giving back to our vibrant community. Learn more about the responsibilities of a Director at Large on our website. The deadline for nominations is January 31st
 

CaGIS map design competition is open


Submissions are open for the CaGIS 50th Annual Map Design Competition. The competition is open to all mapmakers in the United States and Canada for maps completed or published during the calendar year of 2021. Students are particularly encouraged to apply and are eligible for cash prizes.

The deadline is January 31st, and entry is free for all. See award categories and entry details here.
 

ICC abstract and travel funding deadlines extended


The U.S. National Committee (USNC) for the International Cartographic Association (ICA) is pleased to announce the following activities in support of the 31st International Cartographic Conference (ICC), which will take place August 13–18, 2023, in Cape Town, South Africa. The following deadlines have been extended, and are coming up soon:
